Inside Ahan Shetty’s Intense Prep for Border 2: Military Training, 12-Hour Shoots and Extreme Heat

Military-Style Training for a Patriotic Role
Following the buzz around the recently unveiled teaser of the much-awaited patriotic film Border 2, Ahan Shetty has opened up about the intense physical preparation and military-style training he underwent for his role. Portraying a Navy officer in the film, the actor described the journey as both physically gruelling and deeply transformative, demanding complete mental and physical immersion.

Training at NDA Khadakwasla: Authenticity Over Acting
Reflecting on the impact of filming at real locations, Ahan highlighted how shooting at NDA Khadakwasla in Pune reshaped his approach to the role. Training at the same grounds where real officers prepare left no room for pretence. According to him, posture, body language, and intensity had to feel instinctive, driven by the environment itself rather than performance alone.

A Relentless Routine Across Multiple Locations
Ahan revealed that his preparation remained non-negotiable across all shooting locations, including Pune, Amritsar, Khopoli, and Mumbai. His daily routine consisted of rigorous strength training, sports like football and cricket to build agility and cardio endurance, and a strict recovery protocol. Ice baths, steam sessions, sauna, and red light therapy became essential tools to ensure his body could recover and consistently perform during demanding shoot schedules.

Extreme Conditions and Tactical Challenges
Filming at actual military installations added another layer of difficulty to the process. Ahan spoke about facing real terrain, unpredictable weather, and the physical toll of tactical combat sequences. Shooting in 40-degree heat while carrying tactical gear during 12-hour-long shoot days pushed his endurance to the limit, making his training crucial to surviving and performing under such conditions.

Stepping Into the Boots of a Navy Officer
In Border 2, Ahan Shetty is seen fully embodying the role of a Navy officer. The first-look poster released by the makers captures him in a high-intensity war zone, blood smeared across his face, eyes filled with resolve, and a heavy weapon in hand—signalling the film’s gritty scale and emotional intensity.

A Legacy of Patriotism Continues
Presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and J.P. Dutta’s J.P. Films, Border 2 is backed by producers Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, and directed by Anurag Singh. Staying true to its legacy, the film honours the heroism and indomitable spirit of Indian soldiers, promising audiences a powerful journey of patriotism, courage, and sacrifice when it releases in cinemas on January 23, 2026.
