दिग्पाल लांजेकर लिखित ‘मुक्ताई’ या एकल नाट्याने २०१६ ते २०२० या काळात प्रायोगिक नाटयक्षेत्र गाजवले. २०१८ मध्ये राष्ट्रीय नाट्य विद्यालय (NSD), दिल्ली येथे झालेल्या आंतरराष्ट्रीय थिएटर ऑलिम्पिक्स मध्ये या नाटकाला सादरीकरणाचा विशेष सन्मान मिळाला होता. ‘गेली ८ वर्ष हे नाटक रुपेरी पडद्यावर आणण्याचे स्वप्न पूर्ण होत आहे आणि त्या माध्यमातून संत ज्ञानेश्वर आणि मुक्ताई यांचे अजोड कार्य व विचार आजच्या पिढीला ज्ञात होतील’, या उद्देशाने ‘मुक्ताई’ चित्रपटाचा विषय हाती घेतल्याचे दिग्दर्शक दिग्पाल लांजेकर सांगतात.
